At this point, Alphonse would have normally sighed tiredly and turned away, leaving Bane to eat the two strangers because it would have been too much effort on his part to save them now, but not today, not this time, for Liora was there watching, and if he decided to let the cannibal be then she would be so upset and sad and have many other unhappy feelings towards him.
